Description:
SOLD...Antique 1873 Winchester. 38-40 caliber. Excellent bright bore. A nice shooter grade 1873 Winchester. S/N 200863 so made in 1886.. Standard 24" round barrel. Cody work sheet will be included with the gun. It is all correct. The best part about this rifle is the bore. It is bright and shiny with excellent rifling and just a few very minor small spots of roughness. Very near excellent to mint bore.. It shoots great. Feeds, fires and ejects just fine. Mechanics are all excellent. The rear of the receiver and lever have some deep pitting. The barrel and mag tube are smooth medium brown patina with some nice traces of blue remaining. Just some smaller spots of pitting on the end of the barrel and mag tube on the right side.  The rear sight is a modern made but very well made replacement. The front sight is a Marbles number 8 later replacement as well. Has the original dust cover that still retracts with the lever throw. The wood is pretty nice on this one. The forearm is tight and solid with a couple small and tight grain cracks behind the end cap.. At first glance they look like scratches.  Very minor and most dealers would not even mention them but I want to be honest in all my descriptions. It was not mentioned to me when I bought it. NO slivers missing or any other issues and is not all dinged up either. Actually it has some very nice grain pattern and would clean up to be a very nice piece of wood if so desired.. The butt stock is also pretty nice but does look like a small but very nice repair to the bottom toe. {see photo}.. It has no splits or cracks and it also has some nice grain pattern that a little light cleaning would make a very pretty piece of wood. It fits pretty good to the metal with but just not perfectly tight as you can see in the photos. Not a bad gun for the money here as it is just a shooter and with this nice of a bore it is one hell of a shooter..Of course if not for the pitting on the receiver and the replaced sights it would be priced a good deal higher.  It is priced accordingly and about as cheap as you will find a working 1873.!!! 1873's bought for just parts are bringing $1000 now days.. This one is complete and working perfectly.. It is what it is and I will be glad to send you up close photos of any area you may want to see as I can only post 12 photos in my category.. I want happy customers. $50 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 or e-mail with any questions you may have or for more photos.
