Description:
SOLD... Antique Smith & Wesson 1st Model “Baby Russian”. In .38 Caliber S&W. This is a very crisp 1st Model Smith & Wesson “Baby Russian” S/N 14513 and all matching of course so about half way through production. Only 25,548 made in the year 1876 to1877. Has the standard 3 1/4" barrel. This little gun has about 80% original nickel finish on the barrel. Just missing some nickel at the end of the barrel probably from pocket carry. The frame has 99% including the front and rear grip straps with just a couple tiny pin head size specks missing. The cylinder has 98% with just a couple very small spots missing in the a couple flutes. The barrel latch has about 75% blue just starting to fade a little and the trigger retains about 50% blue. The hammer shows most of it’s bright case coloring. The grips are excellent with no cracks or chips with very little wear to the checkering. A perfect factory fit. The markings are excellent. The screw heads look un touched except for the screw on top of the barrel that you have to remove to remove the cylinder shows a little honest wear. Untouched front sight. The mechanics are excellent. Crisp and tight as a new gun. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. The bore still has shine with very little roughness. The chambers are clean with no roughness. This is a very nice Baby Russian that shows some honest use as a pocket carry gun but no abuse. Ready for your collection of fine S&W pocket revolvers. These little Smiths are great investments as you can buy them with a very large amounts of finish at reasonable prices. $15 insured priority mail shipping.
