Description:
The last of tne U.S. flintlock muskets produced of which 90% were converted to percussion. This gun I'm sure was converted back. Stock is overall good condition with no fractures but has a large chip at center band. The oval cartouch is visible but faint. Has 42 inch 69 caliber barrel with the vent well certered with the pan. front barrel band is a repro. Lock plate marked Springfield 1842 and eagle over U.S. but has a lot of pitting. Hammer and components all seem to be original parts but not original to the gun. A good old mantel hanger at a fraction of the price of one that is one hundred percent true.
