SALE PENDING ____ This is a nice example of the scarce Colt Lightining Carbine in an affordable restored version. It is also an intersting piece as it came out of Mexico with law enforcement markings that I have not been able to verify provinence. A shield branded in the stock with a 5 point law enforcement style star and the initials M. J. P. Not a design a rancher would use for a brand. I was told it may be Policia Municipal de Juarez. It is in the desirable 44-40 and has a crisp tight snappy action. The old reblue job is not bad but not world-class. Bore is fairly bright with a few skid marks but would hold a bullet pretty well on course. Saddle ring is intact and present and no evidence of real pitting anywhere on the metal. Sights are oiriginal and correct and markings still sharp and clear. The deluxe style checkering on the handguard is not that badly worn. I of course checked out the butstock for the hidden treasure map you 'always find' in these old antique Mesquilaro carbines. NO LUCK! I have watched too many death Valley Days episodes in my youth.
