Dutch Hembrug Cavalry Carbine, Model 1895 [Dated 1918], Caliber 6.5 mm, Serial Number 58XX, Inv 5238.
A very fine example of a little known manufacturer. The seller says that it belonged to their grandfather. It was in the attic for almost 80 years. The condition is just remarkable. The gun retains about 95+% of the original blue. Showing just mild edge silvering, some scattered pin pricks and a little flaking. All parts match, the bolt, receiver and barrel, most of the smaller parts, and even the stock is numbered to the gun. The stock shows little or no use with just some light scattered surface scratches. The tangent sight is completely functional and in excellent condition. The original sling swivels are still present. The bore is really is quite nice with bright, sharp rifling and some slight graying from use. A real find for an early military collection. $495.
