Springfield,   trapdoor rifle,   Model 1863 (Arsenal conversion),   caliber .45-70,   s/n 31915,   barrel length 32 1/2",   receiver exhibits moderate tarnish all over w/ clear & sharp date, and US marking and fairly clear eagle,   barrel exhibits nice patian all over w/ no rust or pitting,   trigger guard scattered patina all over,   rear leaf sight graduated from 100-500 yards,   CONDITION OF BORE VG-EXCELLENT,    stock has been cut down at one time forward of barrel band and new forend added,   appears to be original finish with no military markings, VG condition,   Steel buttplate heavily patinated,
