Description:
Springfield Armory - M-1: This Garand ( w/a Slotted Gas Cylinder) is a fine example of WWII era firearm. It was mfg. on about 11/19/1943 with a serial no.of 2277XXX. It is a Complete SA with only post war HRA barrel (D6535-448-40-RSI. This gun shows no other sign of arsenal rebuild so I would place it in the "Clean & Reuild program that Springfield  & others were involved. The stock had the "P" w/a serif and no other visible markings. Also this  Garand has a Slotted Gas Cylinder - This was an added service item during WWII
from FSO of 14 October 1943 .035 inch. This  is the first only one that I've seen.
The parts breakdown is as follows:
Receiver - D28291-32 HT B22 w/diamond, Barrel - HRA, Bolt - D28287-19SA w HT B-130, Oper Rod
D35382-9SA, Trigger Housing 662383-9SA (Hammer- C-46008-7SA, Spring Guide Type -2, Safety S-11),
Bullet Guide -  Forged T-3, Clip Latch  T-3, Foll. Asby - 12, OP Rod Catch Type - 2, Front Sight - T-3,
Rear Sight - Std, Stck ferrule - Large Hole  T-3, Stock - SA w'P erif and cross cannon (Small).
The gun metal shows no reparkerizing  & w/natual use wear.
The muzzle measures M-2.5 and the Throat T-2 by my gauges.
This Garand could be both a collector's item and a shooter.
