Description:
Serial numbered pair #6379 & 6380, Boss & Co. 13 Dover Street. Piccadilly, London W. A true pair of Boss Bar Action Ejector Sidelock Game Guns finished in 1914 with Sumner enravings. Both guns have 1984 London proved sleeved 28" barrels at 2 3/4", 3 1/4 tons, proper reproof marks and proved with the correct and existing bore size. They were originally proved at 2 1/2" and 3 tons and then proved again to 2 3/4". The #1 gun at .730 .008 & .014" (Imp Cyl & open Mod) 2 3/4", wall thickness on the right barrel at .0395" and .038" on the left. #2 gun is .730 .008 & .016" (Imp Cyl & Open Mod) 2 3/4", wall thicknesson the right barrel is at .0375" & 0040" on the left. Both guns with double triggers, rolled trigger guard edge for the right hand, numbered 1 & 2 in gold, splinter forend, straight ahnd stocks and both at 14 15/16 x 1 1/4x2" over 1" pads. Very slight cast-off for the right hand and will work fine for the left hand. The #2 gun was restocked in England before coming to the U.S. The #2 gun is 1 1/2" at the comb but all else the same. Both at 6 lbs 14 oz with very nice wood on both with excelent colr & contrast. Boss clasic engraving by John James Sumner with his characteristic 5 bouquets of roses. Teh guns have 98% barrel blue with the stocks and forends at 94-95% with light handeling marks. The checkering is at 97% with traces of case color remaining on the receivers. The barrels are excelent inside and out with no evidence of pitting.
