Description:
Serial #9888, .303 British, 26" barrel with a very good plus bore that has dark freckling within the grooves. This is an "ERA" marked rifle with mismatched bolt and a small import mark on the underside of the barrel just ahead of the nosecap. The metal has a mixed plum-brown and gray patina with flaked painted Suncorite on the front sight base/protectors, bolt components, and barrel band. The rifle has mixed manufacturer parts and the extractor is marked "DP" on the side (Drill Purpose). The stock is for a U.S. Model 1917 and has an "R" Remington stamp at the front as well as an "RA-P" Raritan Arsenal rebuild cartouche on the left side at the receiver. The walnut is in very good shape and has numerous minor handling marks and small blemishes throughout under the added military oil finish. This is a very good composite Pattern 14 rifle overall.
