Description:
Serial #19033, .455/.476/ converted to .45 Colt. 6” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a great looking revolver that retains 95% plus of the original bright, lustrous blue finish with scattered minor handling marks and silvered fading along the cylinder, raised edges, and projections. Some mild flaking is also present on the sides of the frame towards the rear. The topstrap has standard Webley “'WG' ARMY MODEL” marking with the Webley & Scott “Winged Bullet” on the lower left side of the frame and “ARMY & NAVY C.S.L. LONDON” retailer marking on the barrel rib. The hammer, trigger, and cylinder retention stirrup have some traces of mild freckling on the bright metal while the thumb lever has about 95% of the original blue remaining. The checkered walnut grips are in very good shape with some scattered bruises and a single chip missing from the toe on the left panel. The checkering points are still fairly sharp without much flattening and the lock-up is still solid and tight and the action functions flawlessly. The revolver is housed in an original officer's private purchase brown leather holster for wear with a Sam Browne belt that has some minor crazing and flaking along the edges and flex points. Army & Navy Co-Operative Society Ltd records tantalizingly state that this revolver, #19033, was shipped for export on April 10, 1911 to “Inglis Esq.” Unfortunately, no further information is given. This is a lovely example of a desirable WG Army Model with an original holster and an exceptionally high amount of the original finish remaining. It is a superb revolver and would be a great addition to any collection of fine British firearms. {Ref. “Webley Revolvers” by Bruce & Reinhart; 1988} FFL or C&R
