Description:
S#593, 40-72 , 20 inch barrel, antique very good bore with strong rifling and scattered light erosion. This 1896 manufactured 1895 rifle comes with a Cody Zip Sheet indicating rifle, 40-72, Octagon Barrel, and plain trigger, shipped Aug, 17, 1896. Gun now has a round 40-72 barrel. All metal shows 90% of a hot blue refinish. Wood is refinished, forend was hand checkered and now has a small crack at tip on left side. A dovetail notch has been added to rear of breech bolt, action works well and locks up tight. This early flatside rifle is a great candidate for restoration. Antique
