Description:
Serial #1445, .50-60-450 RF, 35 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a fantastic, unconverted and original example of a rare Joslyn military rifle. The barrel and bands retain their original armory bright finish while the breech block retains 60-70% of the original color case-hardening that blends smoothly with mottled pewter gray on the balance. Nice original color case-hardening is still present on the hammer and the 1864 dated lock as well. The dark walnut stock retains nearly all of the original military oil finish with some small handling marks and minor blemishes scattered about and a crisp inspector cartouche on the left side of the stock. This is one of the finest examples of a Joslyn we have ever seen, and it would undoubtedly make a stellar addition to any collection. Antique
