Description:

Smith & Wesson "Triple Lock" "Club Pistol"- Smith & Wesson First Model Hand Ejector Ser. No. 096. .44 Sp.- 7 1/2" barrel, target series with special factory zero prefix and marked on the in-strap "Club Pistol". The gun was shipped from the factory on Nov. 21, 1906 to F. W. Wakefield, Springfield, MA. who was in the United States Ordnance Dept. and one of the area's top handgun competitors. It was one of the first 12 Triple Locks built. From Wakefield the gun went to Mahlon Frank, President of the California Revolver Asso. in the 1930's, who also was a top competitive shooter and was an alternate at the L.A. Olympics in 1932. The revolver is in excellent as factory refinished condition showing stamps under the grips "5-45indicating date of return. The cylinder was replaced and numbered to match at time of the return. The original cylinder which is included with the gun shows 50% blue and pitting. The pitting occured when left in a dark room due to the chemical fumes. By family tradition, Mr. Frank returned it to he factory at the end of WW11 for a new cylinder and refinish as the pitting was too deep to polish out. Gun comes with S&W Jinks letter and notes from Frank to his wife regarding the gun on his stationary written in 1948. A rare Triple Lock Target Club Gun!
