Description:
An exceptional engraved powder horn with very fine 18th century scenes. The overall length is about 12 1/2" on the curve. Has an aged wooden plug with a 19th century screw. Engraving states: ENGRAVD BY REV ROBERTSON CORPLL IN CAPT YELVERTONS PRYTONS COMP Y IN 9TH 1767. With scenes of upper New York Hudson River area. Up at the nozzle is scribed a red coloring. The nails are rusted iron 18th century rose heads. I've shown the horn to several people and they're not sure as everything looks good ,but with some question about how the horn has aged in color. All I can do is show pictures , tell you what I see, I'm no expert on anything. Still a very unusual very fine workmanship powder horn. I find these items in attics and old houses and sell them. Many times the owner doesn't have knowledge of where it came from or how someone in their family found this! We don’t have asite .I prefer money orders or a check. Item ships when funds come in.
