Also known as the Type II Richards Conversion, featuring a Model 1860 Army barrel with plugged loading lever slot, hammer with riveted firing pin, conversion breech ring with no provision for a rear sight and a thinner loading gate with external gate spring, while retaining the six-stop Richards conversion cylinder and cross hatched ejector head. Blade front and hammer notch rear sights. Two line "-PAT. JULY. 25,1871- /-PAT. JULY. 2.1872.-" patent marks on the frame, and matching full and partial numbers on the barrel lug, frame, loading gate, trigger guard and backstrap.
