Description:
Here is an above average condition antique Smith & Wesson 2nd Model SA. in .38 S&W caliber. Standard 3 1/4" barrel. S/N 66513 and all matching throughout. This one is priced for the collectors on a budget but still quite a bit of original nickel finish remaining. I took these photos in direct sunlight as the sun was setting and my flash on the camera was wanting to going off where I usually take my photos which adds even more glare so I had to use natural sunlight.. You will notice a yellowish tint in a couple of the photos because of the sunlight and is not the color on the gun. The barrel has about 70% finish and is thinning towards the end of the muzzle as you can see in the photos. The cylinder has 98% finish and the frame about 80% finish. The balance of the metal where the nickel has flaked off is a smooth medium brown patina with no pitting and has never been cleaned on or messed with. Barrel latch retains 95% bright blue and the trigger about 75%. The mechanics are excellent and this gun is crisp and tight as a new gun. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. Markings are excellent. The grips are excellent with NO cracks or chips and still showing the very fine checkering and luster. They are a perfect factory fit. The screw heads are all clean and untouched and not burred up. The bore is near excellent and is bright and shiny with strong rifling with just a couple pin head size spots of surface roughness. These should clean right out and the bore would be excellent. Very nice bore on this one.. The chambers are clean with no roughness. Un touched front sight. All in all still a very nice little Smith pocket revolver with quite a bit of original finish remaining and while not near as nice as the other I have listed it is priced right according to the condition.
