Description:
This Stevens pistol was called by factory - STEVENS NEW MODEL POCKET RIFLE No.40 and in .22 long rifle caliber. The neat thing about pistol was barrel redone by A.W.PETERSON of DENVER,COLORADO. A  famous gunsmith more known for his work on single shot rifles.Hopefuly, you will see where he cut original barrel and attached a new barrel, and stamped his name on work.I would say the bore is near excellent.Sights have been changed, stock mount butt plate discarded.I have taken to range and it performed well for me.The nickel on frame and trigger guard is mostly there.Blue on barrel is thin and original stocks show use.The hammer cocks easily but their is a small piece missing on top left hand side. These pistols were made from1896 to 1916 and this has a high serial number of 29XXX. I 've got a piece of 3/4 inch flat brass stock which if fitted and attached to butt would make a nicely balanced gun. Lockup has a little bit of the usual looseness found on Stevens tip up pistols. On any old gun I sell as a collector's piece and if intending to shoot ; one should have checked out by a gunsmith.
