"Very Good" condition. All metal has a uniform grey color with a minimum of staining or other marks. The action is very, very strong. The right side walnut grip is in very good condition. The left side grip has a few dings and a small piece of one corner is missing. I have seen the same missing corner on a number of these guns. Might somehow be a week spot. The Savage name and patent dates on the barrel top are all sharp. It is .36 caliber, 6 shot..The octogon barrel is 7& 1/8" long.The overall length is 14& 1/4". It weighs 3 lbs & 7 ounces. A total of 20,000 were made between 1860 and 1866 with 11,984 being bought by the U.S. Government for the war effort. It has what is called a "figure 8" trigger.
