Description:
Extremely rare would not even touch this gun as only one 1885 was built in this caliber. Cal Ex Long 38 RF. This info comes from the survey of cartridges for the 1885 that was compiled by William Porter. Low wall with a #2 oct bbl. An early gun in the 4k serial range. Overall cond is good. Receiver does still have some case color showing but most has turned an aged brown/grey. Nice smooth metal. Bbl has some blue remaining with some aging and thinning in spots. Nice markings. Bore is shiny. Good rifling. A couple of moderate pits towards the chamber and some roughness. Overall bore would be good to VG. Nice solid action. Butt stock is VG with typical usage marks. Forearm is nice fitting with one hairline crack. No wood missing. If you are an 85 collector this would be the one for you. Winchester Letter confirms configuration.
