Description:
Serial #(series 10) 71817, 7.7mm Arisaka, 26" barrel with a very good bore that has light-moderate freckling within the grooves. This is a Nagoya marked rifle with fixed rear sight and ground 'mum that has matching numbers on the bolt, safety, extractor, and firing pin and has some original blue which blends with an overall plum-brown patina with darker brown freckling throughout. Some further silvering and gray fading is present, mainly at the muzzle and on the bearing surfaces of the bolt. The duffel-cut stock and handguard are in very good shape with scattered light-moderate handling marks and surface blemishes throughout the original varnish finish and moderate wear around the edges of the nailed wooden buttplate. This rifle was never equipped with front sight protectors nor provision for a cleaning rod. This is a very good late-war Type 99 overall and would make a nice representative example for a collection.
