Fantastic Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Transition style in the ULTRA RARE 300 Savage caliber!! Surely one of the finest to be offered in years, this rifle is in excellent shape overall. The original bluing is spotless and rated at 99% which includes the near perfect bottom metal and butt plate. Wood is likewise excellent but downgraded slightly due to a couple minor marks and a very small chip at the toe of butt plate as pictured that would be an easy fix if desired. Serial# is 72xxx making this an even more scarce "transition" model made in 1947. Has the ultra cool clover leaf tang and clam shell safety combination found only on a handful of rifles made during this very brief period. 24" barrel with excellent bore. Factory swivels. Factory installed Lyman 48 WJS receiver sight with rear dovetail filler. This is shortly after the time Lyman FINALLY started scalloping their sight bases to conform to wood so fortunately no stock cut out was required. If you have been waiting for the right one of these to come along, this may just be it. I have priced it on a par with previous offerings in far less condition. Life is short...and it may be a VERY long wait before you see another like this.
