The Darne shotgun is a most interesting piece of work. Most of us have never seen one, let alone shot one. They are extremely high quality in any grade. This one is in very fine condition for it's age, guessing pre-war. The conventional wisdom is that at serial #50,000 they started putting letters in front of the number. This one contradicts that thinking as it is in the 57,000 range. Bbls are bright and shinny, no real rust or pitting, about 90% blue, perhaps 50% casehardning. No dents, one scratch on left side of bbl just forward of the action. Wood is very nice especially for a Halifax. All in all I would rate it VG-E. It weighs five lbs. 13 oz. on my scale. Bbls are 29 3/4" +. My guage shows this to have 2 3/4" chambers. This is a great quail and other bird gun. I don't know about the choke's, I'm sure they are in the coding under the bbls but I don't know how to read them. The LOP is:14", DAC is:1.750", DAB is: 2.5". As with any gun, especially one of this age, have a qualified gunsmith inspect it to make sure it is safe to fire. Please be sure this is the gun for you. I don't want to send it more than once!
