Description:
Serial #W6246, 7.65mm Argentine, 29” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a rarely seen, un-“scrubbed” rifle that has not had the national crest removed from the receiver prior to export. The metal has 99% of the excellent original blue remaining with very little wear evident and only some mild spots of silvering along a few of the high and projecting edges. All numbers match (including the cleaning rod and stock) and the bolt has its original armory bright finish with dark brown original grease on the body and a small amount of freckling on the bolt knob. The bolt latch retains almost all of the original brilliant nitre bluing. The walnut stock has a few minor handling blemishes and small bruises scattered about the original military oil finish with crisp Argentine cartouche on the belly of the butt. Unfortunately, someone installed a small plaque on the right side of the stock just ahead of the bolt a long time ago and the impressions and holes are visible. Almost all of these rifles had their national crests removed prior to export and only a handful are ever encountered that still have the crest intact. This is a fine-near excellent example (the only condition issue is the area where the plaque or plate was once installed), and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
