Description:
Serial #17988, .455 Webley, 6 1/2” barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This revolver has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, yoke, extractor, and barrel with the metal retaining 85-90% of the original blue that has silvered at the muzzle. There are some further small handling marks along the barrel and some scattered flecks of salt and pepper freckling along both sides of the rear of the frame. Some additional silvering is present on the raised edges and projections with a light turn-ring around the cylinder. Small British property stamps are present on the frame knuckle and barrel breech on the left side, and there is a double-arrow deaccession stamp on the yoke. Additionally, “JIM” has been lightly scratched into the sideplate just behind the large S&W trademark (either a name or initials). The hammer and trigger have about 75-80% of the original color case-hardening remaining with some mild freckling on the hammer spur and sides of the trigger. The checkered, diamond-center, S&W medallion grips are pencil numbered to the gun on the interior and have minor wear and surface blemishes, and some light-moderate flattening of the points. The lock-up is still tight and the mechanism functions flawlessly. This is a very nice World War I .455 hand ejector and is still in fine condition. FFL or C&R
