Description:
NSN, approximately .60 caliber, 3 1/2? barrel with a fine, bright, lightly pitted bore. This is a nice little pistol that has a centrally hung hammer with sliding safety catch. The brass is neither proofed nor maker marked, and has an overall dark, yellow-ochre patina with scattered small handling marks and surface blemishes as well as dark specks of freckling along the iron hammer, safety, and trigger guard. The bag-shaped, walnut grip has an old added piano varnish finish that has some minor flaking on either side and two straight line, with-the-grain cracks (one on either side of the grip), and a slight gap at the frame joint. The brass butt cap is a engraved with the face of a bear in a style reminiscent of the sword pommels used on some 18th century German sabers. There is a tombstone-shaped repair to the heel of the grip just above the cap which may indicate that it is not original to the pistol. The mechanics are sound, the pistol is fully functional, and the gun rates good plus-near very good condition overall. Antique
