Description:
Serial #443397, .30-40 U.S., 30" barrel with a very good bore that has some freckling and mild pitting within the grooves. This is a nice rifle that has retained 80-85% of the original blue finish that has faded to gray at the muzzle, along the rounded portion of the receiver, edges of the magazine door, and along the high edges and bearing surfaces. The bolt has the serial number added in electric pencil along the body with the metal having an overall dull pewter gray patina mixing with light freckling and the extractor has traces of the original fire blue remaining with the balance turned a mellow plum-brown. The walnut stock and handguard are in good condition and have numerous small handling marks and small blemishes in the original oil finish as well as a still crisp "JSA/1903" cartouche on the left side of the wrist. The steel buttplate has some traces of the original blue remaining with the balance turned to a lightly freckled gray-brown patina with some small impact marks scattered around the edge. This is a nice example of a late U.S. Krag-Jorgensen in very good condition and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
