Description:
Here we have a beautiful 1842 Model .54 caliber percussion single shot pistol made by H. Aston of Middletown Conn in 1850 aka horse pistol because they were issued to the cavalry and dragoons to be carried and used in a double holster attached to the saddle. Most of these pistols found today are in rough condition with missing or broken wood and/or parts. This one is head and shoulders above the usual. The condition is VG/F with nice smooth metal with minimal pitting, excellent wood with 2 faint cartouches with NO unusual visible damage. All parts including the nipple are original and the screw heads are excellent. These were finished National Armory Bright. I'm sure at some time in this pistol's life it has been cleaned but not overcleaned. All lettering and tiny inspector's marks are readable. It has a barrel dated 1849 which is not unusual with these pistols. This pistol looks good in the photos and even better in hand. Most of the ones you see advertised and sold in the $1000-1500 range are only in fair condition. This one is well worth the asking price. Nice antique guns are very hard to find any more. S&H will be a flat rate of $35.00 anywhere in the lower 48. NO INTERNATIONAL SALES PERIOD. Also, it is your responsibility to know your local and State gun laws on antique handguns. Several States out there think they are above Federal law and the Constitution. Buyer must be 18 or older. Payment is to be made by USPS money order or by direct deposit in either my 53rd or Wells Fargo bank account.
