#4935 Winchester 1886 OBFMCB 38/56WCF, 86XXX range (1894), VG+ bore and action (about a 7-7+ on a scale of 10) with no bad spots but having some light lead build-up and scale in the grooves. Very decent wood with no slivers or serious dings and having a tight fit to the metal. Some good traces of orig varnish remaining. Fine crisp-edged metal, no pitting and just a thin pale grey-grown patina on the barrel and magazine and a mottled grey on the frame. This old Winchester has obviously had decent care in its 120 years of life, probably because this cartridge went obsolete early in the 1900s. But now, with the popularity of “Cowboy Action” shooting, this mild recoil caliber can be easily found on-line to where this caliber has gained in popularity again. Considerably above the “average” 1886 that can be found in all but the better high-end gun shows. VG+ $2495
