Description:
Serial #N93992, .303 British, 25” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is an armory reconditioned rifle (originally BSA marked) that was redated to 1942, and retains about 80-85% of an armory re-applied blue finish that exhibits some silvering and gray fading on the high edges and projections. The matching bolt, which has a No. 4 grooved cocking-piece, has a matching blue finish that has silvered on the handle and bearing surfaces. The matching nosecap and unnumbered magazine likewise have a commensurate amount of blue remaining and the walnut stock, matching numbered forend, and handguards are in good condition with numerous small handling marks and surface bruises both under and through the armory re-applied oil finish. A large “ZF” recondition marking is painted in white on the left side of the buttstock, along with an inventory number in black grease pencil (1272), and a further “131” rack number in white on the right side. This is a very good-fine SMLE overall, reworked around World War II, and should make a very nice shooter. FFL or C&R
