This is a handsome pistol that retains 98% plus of the original lustrous blue finish with only some mild silvering at the muzzle and along the exposed edges and projections. The trigger and magazine release have muted color case-hardening remaining and the checkered hard rubber grip panels are in excellent shape with only some mild flattening of the points and a few miniscule surface scratches and marks. The pistol comes with a single original magazine and is housed in a modern two-piece black box with reproduction Savage labels. Also included is a 2011 dated letter from Savage historian John Callahan in which he states the factory ledgers list a warehouse acceptance date of May 27, 1915, and a shipping date of May 28, 1915, to Kirkwood Bros. in Boston. A further work number is attached to the pistol (6710) which seems to indicate a return to the factory for repair sometime between 1920 and 1921. This is an excellent example of a rather scarce Model 1915 Hammerless and would make a great addition to any collection. {Ref.
