Description:
CONFEDERATE ENFIELD PATTERN 1853 SOCKET BAYONET CIRCA 1863. For the .577 caliber rifle musket. 21” o/a with 3” socket and 17 ½” fullered blade with small ‘C. A.” stamped on the inside base of the blade. Slightly narrower and cruder than the British bayonet and the product of one of the Confederate States contractors or arsenals. Very good condition with modest wear and a deep patina mixed with salt and pepper. All original and from the J. D. Browne collection of Civil War arms started before WW2.
