Description:
#4963 Winchester 1873 OBFMCB, 44WCF, manufactured in 1883 (136XXX) with standard 24” length barrel. Early 3rd Variation and, being in that transitional range, it does not yet have the barrel and elevator marked with the caliber designation. Good bore, about a 6 on a scale of 10 and looks like it may clean a bit better yet with a good scrubbing. It does still look shootable, although admittedly I have not shot it myself and neither did the former owner so that’s just a guess on my part. The exterior has an even dark grey-brown patina with some scattered light crustiness build-up and light pitting on the frame which is hardly mentionable and a heavier spot of pitting on the mag tube. The metal is otherwise crisp and the edges are sharp and not showing anything other than minor wear. It has a decent stock with no serious blems or flaws but the forearm does have sliver chips at the fore cap on both sides. Standard open sights and trigger. There are lots of pictures of this neat old gun, about twenty in all, so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. About VG as described. $2175
