Description:
#4818 Remington “Double Derringer” (Model 95) Over-Under tip-up action, 41RF. These prolific large bore belly-guns were made between 1865-1935 in six major variations. Probably made in either 1865 or 1866, this one is the very, VERY scarce and extremely desirable “First First” Variation in that it has the side address lines and made without any extractor system. It has fine hinges (which on all models of these are often are cracked or broken completely), tight action, bores with a lot of shine and crisp rifling but do need some scrubbing to be a 7-8 on a scale of 10. Excellent smooth metal with 85-90% coverage of a 20-40% density blue mixing with grey-brown; fine walnut grips with no deficits at all. Except for the density of the blue getting thin and the bores needing cleaning, this very rare derringer is in Ex.Fine/Ex. Fine+ condition. The walnut case is not an original Remington case, and there is no value being placed on it aside of making it much safer to ship. $3450
