This pistol has matching numbers on the frame and slide with the metal retaining 95-97% of the original blue finish with some mild silvering along the exposed edges. The left side of the triggerguard has a small ?(eagle)/77? Waffenamt stamp and ?(eagle)/N? proofs are present on the frame, slide, and barrel. The pistol currently sports newly made reproduction grips but the originals are included and are in very good shape with only some minor chipping along the leading edge of the left panel. The pistol is housed in an original black leather military holster with handwritten owner's name on the inside of the flap: ?Mstr./Herrmann?. Also included is the original November 23, 1945 dated bring-back certificate, issued for Tec. Thomas Lentz, 796th AAA AW Bn., and lists the pistol by serial number. The 796th was part of the 10th Armored Division, 3rd Army under George Patton, and saw action throughout France, Bastogne, and the breakthrough of the Siegfried Line, Battle of the Bulge. Lentz stayed in the army after the war and served in Korea before retiring as a Sgt. 1st Class with 23 years of service. He passed away in 2011 and is interred in Arlington National Cemetery. The pistol comes with a single original ?S/u/S? marked magazine and is a fine-near excellent example of a captured, Wehrmacht marked 38H pistol.
