Description:
Serial #A27089, 7.62mm (.308 Win.), 25" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some faint traces of minor freckling within the grooves. This is an Ishapore-made, 1965 dated rifle and has retained about 80-85% of the armory Suncorite finish on the metal with gray fading and flaking along the exposed edges and projections as well as along the head and bearing surfaces of the matching numbered bolt. The typically blocky Indian nosecap is also numbered to the gun, as is the underside of the forend (albeit with a "Z" prefix rather than an "A"). The forend as well as the handguards and "S^A/I" marked buttstock have been arsenal refinished to fine condition with only scattered small handling marks and surface blemishes as well as a small rack number in white on the left side, "34". A single unnumbered magazine is included which has a commensurate amount of black paint finish remaining and there is a small import stamp on the left side of the receiver. This is a very good plus-fine condition Ishapore SMLE overall. {Ref.
