Superb and unique with script “U.S.A.” engraved brass name plate for United States Army on lid of the brass bound walnut case. Original mustard colored velvet lining with recesses for the “COLT’S/PATENT” and “44H” marked Army mold and the “STAND OF FLAGS” flask with Army oversize sloping charger for the .44 cal. powder charge. Also an Eley Cap tin and a Colt combination screw driver and nipple wrench. The three recessed brass wells contain a quantity of .44 cal. lead balls and a few replacement parts. The original Colt Army is serial numbered in the 128,xxx range and all matching except the trigger guard which is numbered in the 65,xxx range. Fine markings including a superior cylinder scene and a nice “COLT’S/PATENT” stamp on the frame. Excellent grips with the original finish. Some blue and dark case hardening mixed evenly with the brown patina. Excellent working order and very good bore. Collected in the 1950’s in Alabama and in the same collection until we purchased the collection. Wonderful original outfit of the type that would have been at an Army post for the use of the Provost Martial, Sergeant of the Guard, Brig Chaser etc. SOLD Antique: Yes |
