Description:
Remington New Model 1858 Army martially marked black powder percussion revolver, .44 caliber, 6 shot, 8 inch barrel, walnut grips, serial number 122,818. Standard markings are visible & read "Patented Sept 14, 1858 E Remington & Sons Ilion New York, U.S.A. New-Model. Inspector marks are highly visible on other parts of the revolver including the barrel, top of frame, cylinder, grips etc. The "OWA", cartouche on the left grip are the initials of O.W.Ainsworth, the legendary inspector. The grips fit snug and are in good condition with a small repair towards the bottom which looks to be from a bullet hole. Bore is in excellent condition and action works perfectly. Metal is clean with little to no corrosion, retains 50-60% of light blue finish with some scratches present. Overall a nice antique New Model Remington that would make a great collector's item.
