Description:
Up for your consideration is a lovely 20-bore double by Grulla Armas of Spain. This quality game gun tips the scales at 6lbs even and handles beautifully. Based on the Holland & Holland design, the sidelock action is nicely shaped with beaded fences and is well adorned with full-coverage floral and scroll engraving. Its 26" chopper lump barrels are beautifully struck and are topped with a traditional game rib. The chokes are fixed Improved Cylinder & Modified. The well-figured walnut stock is traditionally configured with a straight grip and splinter forend. Its also adorned with hand-cut checkering, drop points,a checkered butt, a blank initial oval, and a traditional, hand-rubbed oil finish. Other notable features of this fine piece include bushed firing pins, double triggers (with articulated front), non-auto safety, jeweled action and barrel flats, and a single front bead. The gun is housed in a canvas break-down case with trade label (original to the gun).
This double remains in very good condition. There is wear on the case colors where it has been carried afield. The blue also shows some wear from usage with some minor thinning and various marks scattered about. The stock's oil finish remains strong. The stock is free from cracks or major handling marks. Checkering is still sharp. The barrels ring true and have no dents. The bores are shiny and clean. The barrels lock up solid to the action with the opening lever to the right. Ejectors are in time and kick strong.
