Description:
Serial #16033, .32 CF, 3 1/4” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is an unusual revolver that has “(crown)/E/LG” Liege proofs and a very tiny “LD/BTE” maker's mark on the left side of the frame at the breech. The frame retains about 80-85% of the original color case-hardening, while the barrel and cylinder have a commensurate amount of the original bright blue remaining. Silvered gray areas are present at the muzzle, along the edges of the cylinder flutes, and high areas of the frame as well. The trigger guard has flaked to a freckled plum-brown patina in spots, and the trigger and hammer have developed a dull gray patina. The loading gate on the right side is actually a cylinder latch and rotates to allow the cylinder to swing out to the right, and the hammer is attached to a very long, hinged firing pin. The left side of the barrel is engraved with a police department marking: “MDP 16,033”. The significance of this marking is unknown, but further research could prove fruitful. The checkered black horn grips are also in fine-excellent condition with very little wear and only a few minor handling marks. These Oury Systeme revolvers were made by a variety of Belgian maker's (including Auguste Francotte, Etablissements Lebeaux, and Manufacture Liegoise d'Armes a Feu), and were marketed under a variety of brands including: “Bogatyr”, “Puppy”, and “French Officer's Model”. This example is in excellent overall condition and would make a splendid addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
