Description:
The gun pictured is a John Blanch side lock 12 gauge, serial number 5423 (made by W & C Scott on their earlier style back action frame). The year of manufacture is 1885. It has 30 inch damascus barrels, still with their original 2 1/2" chambers. It is choked improved cylinder and improved modified, retaining 10 to 20% case colors and is in excellent condition overall. The bores are fine and the action functions perfectly. The gold line cocking indicator is missing from the left side hammer axle and would be very easy to repair. Length of pull is 14 1/2 inches. Drop is 1 9/16" at heel and 1 3/8" at comb. with no perceptible cast. The weight is 7 pounds 2 ounces, easily light enough for a day in the uplands.
