Description:
Early Winchester 1873 in the 1200 serial range. This one has the desirable "Raised Thumbprint" dust cover that was only found on the beginning of production through the 2500 serial range. Another plus is the octagon barrel, full magazine and rifle butt configuration in the .44WCF caliber. This rifle also features a set trigger.that still works today. Wood is in good condition with no cracks. Good smooth metal with slight rounding of the corners on the barrel flats. Original sights. Bore is surprisingly good. Strong rifling with only a few scattered light pits. Metal has been cleaned long ago and is starting to patina. Light pitting on butt plate. If you are looking for an early '73 to add to your collection, this is it!
