Description:
Marlin Model 93 "Sporting Carbine" - Cal. 30-30 - 20" Bbl. - SN 12XX (1923-1924 Approx) - "Special Smokeless" barrel - bore is VG ++ to Excellent - bright and shiny with sharp rifling with a few areas of light roughness in the grooves - action is excellent with tight lock-up. Metal is near excellent overall - barrel and magazine tube retain about 90% thinning blue and show a couple areas of very light pits on upper barrel and magazine tube - front barrel band screw is slightly buggered - receiver has drifted to a grayish patina with traces of case color and a few spots of minor discoloration on sharp edges. Receiver top marked "Marlin Safety". Wood is excellent and undamaged with 98% finish and only a few surface marks from normal handling - "bullseye" on buttstock. Hard rubber buttplate is undamaged with sharp checkering and logo. Overall a very nice early Marlin in the scarce "Sporting Carbine" configuration with 2/3 magazine and in the popular .30-30 caliber - all original and VG ++ condition Will make a great hunter/shooter and collectible at a reasonable price.
