Description:
Fox A Grade 16 Gauge SxS Shotgun
30" F/F #2 WT. BARRELS, BUILT FOR HEAVY LOADS

General Specs: Fox, Year 1926, 16 Gauge, 7lbs 1oz, Side by Side
Serial Number: 302620

The Fox A Grade 16ga. is the first level of graded Fox guns with nicely a engraved receiver, lightly figured wood, and flat top factory checkering.  They only made 2500 or so A Grade 16ga. Fox guns, with likely only 2100 or so left intact on the planet.  All 16ga. Fox guns were made on a 20ga. frame, so they are well known to be delightful, well balanced, 16ga. bird guns...easy to carry all day long.  This gun, sn302620 made in 1926, matches the factory records perfectly, having never been altered in any way since it left the factory.  The gun is special in several ways.  FIRST, IT IS VERY HARD TO FIND AN UNMOLESTED SMALL BORE FOX IN AWESOME CONDITION.  Second, there are times when you need to shoot heavier loads and need a heavier gun with thicker barrels to handle the heavier loads.  There are times when the pheasants don't hold and flush at the edge of range.  With the typical light Fox 16, a 1oz. load is as much as you want to use.  But when the birds are long, and tough to bring down, you need larger pellets to retain energy at ranges of 40 yards and beyond.  With the heavier gun you can step up to 1 1/8oz. loads of #4 pellets.  The larger payload carries enough of the larger pellets to make clean kills at longer ranges.  The F/F chokes maximize the usefulness (can be altered to M/F for $90) of a heavy field gun.  With great stock dimensions and long wood, this is a great gun for your ducks, doves, pheasants, turkey, sharptails, chukar, etc.  RST spreader loads will make it shoot like it has Mod chokes for versatility.  We can add a Silvers pad to this gun and get a full 15" LOP for you tall guys.  We bend stocks here in our shop as well.  Finding a nice untouched Fox with perfect screws, no cracks or repairs, mirror bores, with long barrels and plenty of condition remaining is the definition of an investment quality gun for birds and clays.
