Description:
This Civil War cannon is a one of a kind original bronze field piece made by The Winchester Repeating Arms Company, Bridgeport, Conn. It was manufactured for exhibition purposes in conjunction with a Winchester product display in the company's hay day. The cannon is 15" high, 18" wide and 29" in length with a one inch diameter bore. It's solid bronze construction weigths approximately 85 pounds with all accessaries. The workmanship is extroadinary with every detail representing the finest early Winchester craftmanship. I received this consignment from the estate of a gentleman who worked for the Winchester company in the late 1930's.
The machining that went into making this rare cannon is the finest I have seen. Every part is jointed and fitted to the highest of standards  with the typical Winchester roll mark on top of the barrel. The barrel is machined to the bottom with a fuse hole drilled at the proper angle throught to the combustion chamber.  Elevation is accomplished by a screw attached to a hand wheel.  Accessories include a charging ram, a packing rod, a powder measuring scoop, and a water bucket.
This magnificently crafted cannon would be the center piece of your gun room displays generating much interest and conversation.
