15-30 English Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss
15-30 A Superb English Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss or coach gun by Griffin Tow, circa. 1760-1770 round brass blunderbuss barrel with flared muzzle, and marked with British proofs. Engraved “Griffin Tow London” on top of barrel. Barrel is 16” and overally length is 32” gun. Engraved brass furniture with acorn on brass in front of trigger guard. Stock is solid w/normal scratches and dings from years of service. Very nice sculpted stock wrist with brass escutcheon. Some light pitting on the lock. In good working order. This gun is in original “attic” condition and has not been cleaned or polished. These Blunderbuss or coach guns were generally used to guard the English stage coaches, but many saw military use in the royal navy. These date around the time of the American Revolution and may have seen use in the Revolutionary war on one side or the other. (15-30) $2,700.00
