Description:
Sometimes called a  "First first"  these were manufactured from 1857-1860. Early Revolver SERIAL NUMBER 242, has the scarce "bayonet" style barrel latch found only on the Model 1, 1st Issue, and the 2nd  Issue revolvers...

The case is not included.
Smith & Wesson only manufactured approximately 200 of the Model 1, 1st Issue, and 900 of the Model 1, 2nd. Issue   Revolvers. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the one line address and the patent dates are marked around the cylinder. The matching serial number is marked on the butt, back of the barrel lug and stamped inside each grip panel.
THE BARREL IS MARKED-- “R. White/Patented Apr. 3 1855"-- The cylinder marking is weak but discernible....
Two-piece hammer is intact., and has Very Good Mechanics with the early style large revolving recoil shield,  the key for indexing the cylinder. The case is not included.  A very nice example of a scarce early revolver.  Ultra-Rare and historical       Pending Funds
