Description: The first look at the barrel flats on this gun definitely make an impression. First of all, this gun is still in original proof - measuring .731 with original bore diameter marked 12 (.729). The shot charge of 1 1/4 oz. lets you know that this is a heavy proof gun, but it's the chamber length marking that takes first-time observers aback. It's proved with 2 7/8" chambers. It's marginally heavy at just shy of 8 lbs and it locks up via double underlugs and a Greener-style cross bolt. A trip to the wall-thickness gauge revealed no measured thickness less than .037 on either barrel. The gun locks up tightly on the face and the barrels ring nicely. But not only is the gun sound mechanically, it's also quite handsome. The action is adorned with 50% to 60% scroll engraving coverage and it retains lots of color case hardening. The only real signs of blue wear are on the triggerguard and lower tang. And its round-knob, half-hand pistol-grip stock is built of a nicely figured piece of walnut ended with a Cathy Yale leather-covered recoil pad.
