Description:
SOLD.. Excellent Antique 3rd Model Thuer Colt Derringer. Here is an excellent and way above average Colt 3rd Model Thuer Derringer. S/N 10,622 and all matching so well into the pre 1898 antique S/N range. Caliber is the standard. 41 rim fire. This little gun has about 98% original silver plating on the bronze frame. Just showing very slight wear on the edges as you can see in the photos probably from pocket carrying. The barrel has about 70% original nickel finish showing in good lighting. Very hard to tell were the bare metal and the finish metal meet but I put a light on it to get a very accurate percentage of finish. The missing finish on the barrel is on the left side from opening and closing the action as most of these will show that have seen even a little use. The top, bottom and right side of the barrel shows nearly all the finish. The barrel shows very minimal dinging on the rear from the hammer tip { see photo} as most this model will have even on very high condition guns. Most are much worse. All markings are excellent. The mechanics are excellent with excellent hammer notches and spring tension. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. The grips are very fine with NO cracks or chips showing about 20% to 30% original thinning varnish on both sides. They do show very slight wear on the rear from honest carrying but all in all, very nice original grips on the gun. The bore is better than average on this model. Shows very good rifling all the way through with some light roughness as can be expected from black powder firing. { see photo }. All the screw heads are sharp and not burred up. This a an excellent little Colt Derringer that has never been messed with and just showing a small amount of honest use. Has lots of original finish and much better than the ones you see with no finish and with stove pipe bores that are selling for $500 - $600. This is a bargain price and very reasonable. Antique so no FFL needed. $15 insured priority mail shipping.
