Austrian Werndl Carbine M1867/77 Barrel was built or maybe replaced by Steyr in 1881. May have been used in WW1 and even WW2. It is single shot and called a Burgerwehr for the Burgerkorps (Citizen Corps). It was made for the Paramilitary. I do not believe this to be a cutdown rifle-- it was done at Steyr in 1881. Notice that there is no Army unit mark. This carbine was meant for the paramilitary! It is marked “Pt72 St81”. I have never found another one like this and I think it to be very rare outside of Austria. Caliber: 11x42mm rimmed. Missing the cleaning rod. CONDITION: Excellent. The bore is in excellent condition with strong rifling. Action is very crisp. It is in excellent (95% original blue) condition. I am slowly selling a WW1 collection accumulated over 20 years.
