Description:
NSN, .577 Snider, 36 1/2? barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This rifle has an 1864 dated Enfield lock, B.S.A. breechblock, and extensive War Department markings with traces of the original blue finish blending smoothly with a dark plum-brown patina along the barrel. There is some mild silvering at the muzzle and the lock and breech assembly have a darkly mottled smooth gray patina throughout with a dark mustard yellow patina on the brass triggerguard, nosecap, and lock screw bolsters. The action itself is tight and fully functional while the walnut stock has a fine military oil finish with small handling marks and minor blemishes throughout as well as a still fairly crisp Enfield cartouche on the right side of the butt and crisp ?DC? Dominion of Canada stamp opposite. Both an iron ramrod and chained firing pin protector are included. This is a fine-near excellent example of a Canadian-issued Snider rifle and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
